It took a while for the 2015 cod season to take off, but that is the charm of nature and wild fishing!

‘It took a while for the 2015 cod season to take off, but that is the charm of nature and wild fishing!’ That is another reason why we are proud to obtain our cod from Norway, where the standard has been kept high for many years now with small-scale and well-regulated fishing.’ – Harry Hoogendoorn, general manager of Queens Products

In the northernmost part of Norway, the best cod is caught in the earliest months of the year. When the cod migrates from the open sea in the direction of the Lofoten Islands, the fleets of small-scale fishermen set out to bring in the daily catch, for example by long-lining, which on land is then immediately processed and frozen. The catch undergoes a strict inspection in order to verify how much fish is brought to land by which fisherman. All Queens Norway cod is MSC certified and sustainably caught.

Supplier Norway Seafoods ties in with the Queens’ company philosophy perfectly. They describe it as ‘Proud: of our company, product and our sustainable tradition. Honesty: in doing business. Expertise: in the passion and the will to improve, and sustainable: for nature and our own enterprise.’
